About Us

Founded: 1990, non-profit organization.

President: Maria Teresa Palha.

Members: The organization is in contact with about 3000 families.

Finances: There are no member fees, but we sell teaching materials and educational software. We get some support from the state and some donations and sponsorships.

Main Goals

• First parental help/support for families; early intervention programmes for children and parents.
• Researching new methods and offering intervention programs designed to promote development of children with developmental disabilities.
• The inclusion of children with developmental disabilities in mainstream education.

Services

• Counselling.
• Rehabilitation and therapies.
• Workshops/seminars: for parents or professionals.

Other activities: once a year we organize national meetings, for Down Syndrome and for other developmental disabilities.
